Agent18 FlowerVest iPod touch cases

Agent 18 today debuted two new FlowerVest cases for Apple's iPod touch and iPod nano players. The cases come in two designs which include pink with pink flowers and brown with blue flowers, aiming to protect the iPod while adding style with a floral print featured on both front and back.

Touch FlowerVest cases are made from soft silicon and easily slip onto the iPod touch, providing full access to ports as well as the touch screen interface. Touch FlowerVest cases are priced at $30, while Nano FlowerVest cases are available for $20.

Agent 18's Nano FlowerVest is also comprised of soft silicon, but features a clear polycarbonate lens to protect the Nano's LCD screen. As with all Agent 18 cases, the new Nano FlowerVest cases provide full access to all connectors and the hold switch.

Both cases include a dock adaptor that allows the iPod to integrate with any universal docking device while remaining inside the FlowerVest, negating the need to remove the iPod from the case to dock, charge, or sync.

Clear Armor iPod Touch Case

Case-mate has introduced its new Clear Armor line of protective film for the iPod classic, iPod touch, iPhone, and other handheld electronic devices.

Clear Armor ipod touch case is the perfect choice for those who desire invisible protection for their iPod Touch. Originally created by 3M to protect Apache Helicopter blades from sand damage in Desert Storm, this high grade protective film is incredibly resilient.

In fact, this is the same 3M Scotchgard film used to protect cars around the world from scratches, dings, and road debris. Installation is easy. Simply remove the film from the backing, spray it with the included solution to moisten it, and position it on your phone.

Smooth the bubbles out and let it dry. This film will protect your iPod Touch for years to come.

Check out this blender test, which tests the durability of Case-mate's new Clear Armor!

Features:
-Crafted of 3M Scotchgard Protective Film
-Invisible protection for your iPod Touch--you can barely tell it's there
-Custom designed to fit the iPod Touch
-High quality protection from scratches

Detailed Description:
Clear Armor case is the highest quality protective film available on the market today. It is an excellent solution for people who want to preserve their investment without covering up their iPod Touch.

Each Clear Armor case kit includes: 2 sets of Clear Armor, a microfiber cleaning cloth, a bottle of application solution, an applicator card, and application instructions.

Application can be done in seven simple steps:

1)Thoroughly clean your device before applying Clear Armor.
2)Spray your hands with the application solution and keep them wet while handling Clear Armor.
3)As you slowly peel off the Clear Armor from the backing, spray the sticky side with the application solution -- do NOT spray your device. Be generous with the solution -- it will make it easier when positioning Clear Armor onto your device.
4)Carefully place the Clear Armor onto your device. Once it is set, you can slide it into perfect position. If you need to lift the film off of the surface to remove air bubbles, just re-spray the film before putting it back into place.
5)Using the applicator card, remove air bubbles by pushing from the middle of the piece outward. Remember to push moisture away from any open ports. Be careful not to push too hard, which could stretch out the film.
6)Be sure to remove all of the moisture and soap to prevent moisture buildup. Do not try to remove the film after it has been set for 10 minutes.
7)Soak up any excess moisture with cloth provided. Micro-bubbles and imperfections will work themselves out over 2-3 days.

Case-mate Clear Armor case is available for 80GB and 160GB iPod classic models, iPod touch, and the iPhone, and sells for $20.

Apple is set to announce a deal to begin selling and renting movies through the iTunes Store in both the United Kingdom and Canada, according to a Times report. Citing studio sources, the article says that Disney, Paramount, Warner Bros., and Twentieth Century Fox are all on board for the deal, which is expected to cover both countries.

According to the report, pricing for downloads will be comparable to DVD pricing, while rental pricing will be comparable to the prices of traditional movie rentals. In addition to the four major studios, both Lionsgate and MGM are said to be party to the deal, leaving only Universal Studios and Sony Pictures out of the agreement.

Apple sues Atico International over iPod accessories

In a case that outlines the legal strategy that will be used against companies that create iPod accessories without joining Apple’s Made for iPod program, the company has filed suit against Atico International over a series of patent and trademark infringements relating to the latter’s iPod accessories.

Apple is claiming infringement of a patent on remote controls, infringement on the design patents for its Universal Dock well, as well as three Dock Adapters, and trademark violations relating to the Made for iPod, iPod mark, and iPod image trademarks.

Apple has also alleged that Atico is unfairly competing with Apple in violation of federal law based on its use of Apple’s trademarks, falsely suggesting that its products are associated with Apple.

Some of Atico’s products are being sold at Walgreens under the Living Solutions brand; offerings include an AM/FM Alarm Clock Radio with iPod Dock, a Portable Boom Box with iPod Dock, and the JBL On Stage-styled Portable Speaker with iPod Dock.

Apple shows off new flagship Boston store

Apple has big plans for its latest retail store and its first in downtown Boston—literally. The new brick-and-mortar outlet, opening Thursday on Boston’s tony Boylston Street, will be the largest Apple Store in the United States with three floors of retail space.

“Apple has exploded in growth,” said Apple senior vice president of retail Ron Johnson during a Wednesday preview of the Boylston Street store. “Boston is also redeveloping…there’s so much growth in Boston, combined with growth for Apple, that it’s time to build another large store.”

While the Metro Boston area already features eight stores, the Boylston Street store is the first in the city itself. Johnson noted Wednesday that Apple has had its eye on the site for eight years—before the company even opened the first of its retail outlets. And its plans for the Boylston Street outlet have expanded over time.

Apple’s retail efforts have grown considerably since Apple first eyed downtown Boston as a potential site for one of its stores. The company now has 210 stores around the world—183 in the U.S., with 15 in the U.K., seven in Japan, four in Canada, and one in Italy.

The retail stores brought in $1.45 billion in second-quarter revenue, Apple reported last month. The Boston store is one of 45 that Apple plans to open during its 2008 fiscal year; the company also plans brick-and-mortar efforts in Australia, China, and Switzerland.

Singapore Airlines in-flight iPod/iPhone connectivity

Singapore Airlines has announced that it is now offering iPod and iPhone connectivity on select all-Business Class Airbus A340-500 flights.

The system allows passengers to enjoy content from their iPod or iPhone through the aircraft’s KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system, which features a 15.4-inch widescreen monitor for every seat, as well as active noise-cancellation headphones.

In addition, the system—which connects to the devices via a standard 30-pin connector—will offer in-seat charging, and will allow users to hear announcements and instructions made by the crew and pilots even while content is being played.

The service is currently limited to flights between New York and Singapore, and will be added to flights between Los Angeles and Singapore in August.

Payless Car Rental Launches iPhone and iPod Touch Optimized Website

Payless Car Rental, a low-cost rental car company providing exceptional value to travelers, is one of the first car rental agencies to build a customized version of its website for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

"Payless saw the need to create a slimmed-down version of its new website for the iPhone and iPod Touch community," said Jeff Lin, Project Leader of Payless' web marketing strategy team. "Payless' iPhone interface adds convenience and loads up faster than a full website would on an iPhone or iPod Touch," he added. "By pointing their iPhone or iPod Touch to http://www.paylesscarrental.com/, iPhone and iPod Touch users can book a car in just three easy steps."

iPhone users make up nearly one-third of smartphone users in the U.S., and the Safari browser is already the most popular mobile browser in the United States. Since Apple launched the iPhone last June, the iPhone has catapulted to number two in U.S. smartphone market share, trailing only Research In Motion's Blackberry.

The homepage of Payless' iPhone interface also features a "Call to Book" button that, when pressed, will connect the customer to Payless' call center, where the customer can book over the phone, instead of through the interface.

Another section includes links to the store locations' contact information and maps -- features that could come in quite handy while traveling.
